If I was to post this topic in the "General Discussion" I'd get 0 responses as rarely do those topics get read/replied to.

No excuse for that....

As a runner, athlete, etc. I've had ACL injuries in both knees, Patella dislocation in one knee, hurt ankles, torn muscles & tendons, broken fingers, bone spurs, etc. I'm still up & going & don't complain. I think this a good topic, as far as to compare notes to see how we overcome our injuries to get back on the court, etc. I once lost a spike during a race & was covered in blood and torn a ACL, but still qualified for state because I didn't give up. |

I have an Orthopedic Appointment already scheduled, & have already gone through one round of PT. My primary complaints about my knee right now is the periodic popping of the knee when walking/moving the knee & the inability to normally go up & down stairs/bleachers.

+1...whatever route you and your doctors decide to go, make sure to follow through with any rehab or workout plan your docs put you on. Also, if you can, after you resolve this situation with your knee, I'd try and join a gym (or perhaps you can use the one at your school) and start a workout program that incorporates strengthening the muscles around your knee (talk to your doc about his before you do anything).

The PT I went through did help for a little bit, so my knee's better than it could be.

overcoming injury
Ice became my friend early on as a athlete. I did 3 varsity sports in HS (Captain for XC) & did summer league Basketball. I trained for races out of HS. I went through 6 months of PT, etc. after my patella dislocation/ACL tear. I had been training for the Salt Lake Marathon at that point (I was single then). Maybe one of these days I can go back there & run it, as well as run Bloomsday.

Of course I'd ask your doctor before starting any of this. And if you do, I'd do a lot of research/try and find someone to teach you proper technique. As a side note, I'm a big proponent of weight lifting. Really helps with the wear and tear of the season. Especially during the off season, I'm doing heavy bench, deadlifts, squats, pullups, etc.

If you don't care then why post?
I am wanting advice from others that have gone through similar circumstances, which thankfully one person has been helpful.

Sorry I didn't mean to imply too much info. I talk my mind usually & could lie if I wanted to, I'm too honest. I was just a little upset by the comment. I had a long weekend showing my rabbits & am still a bit sore from being on my feet on concrete for about 12 hours straight.

I could only wish we could get that instituted...

I have more strength in my legs than I do my arms as at most that I can lift with my arms via weight training would be only about 75 lbs.

I've never seen a car that was walking the dog much less been hit by one. That must have hurt.
