This weekend, I was working a hockey game and had my partner break his wrist during the game. Have you had a bad injury to yourself or another official during a Game you worked?

In January, 1978, I snapped the plantaris tendon in my right leg midway through the first quarter of the first game of a HS basketball DH. Not wanting to let my partner finish the two games alone, I hobbled the rest of the way. It was mid-July before my leg healed.

I was working an elementary school basketball game, when i tripped fell and landed on my wrist. I couldn't continue with the game, and had to wear a support for a month. Thankfully there was another ref there to cover for me.

I've been part of a couple of these. First one was a plate umpire who passed out from heat & dehydration problems. This was on a Saturday afternoon of a tournament weekend. I kept him out of the rest of the weekend's games, took some of his games & distrubuted the other games. Since then, I've made sure that everyone hears about the umpire who decided he wasn't sweating too much or wasn't thirsty & paid the price. The second was a cracked wrist I got from a foul ball. I finished the game & then bowed out - xrays showed a crack but not serious enough to do a whole lot with.

Angry

First inning of first FED softball game of the year. Pitch in the dirt hits the end of my big toe.
Broken in three places. Stayed in two more innings, couldn't take it any longer, and went for x-ray. Missed 6 weeks because of my own stupidity. ):
