not there
I have watched this video numerous times with stop and go, the offensive player's left leg is clearly in the air when the secondary defender arrives. Although the secondary defender is stationary it...

Charge?? seriously!!!
There is no way this is a charge, the secondary defender clearly is late, the drive has begun and the SD defender arrives late. Although he is not moving means nothing, the drive to the basket...

next level
it is very easy to call this play and probably not have any arguments but to get to the next level in refereeing (as it appears the refs in film have done) is to figure what needs to be called and...

no contact??
looks like most of the contact is caused by the primary defender and not the guy moving in late where there was minimal if any contact

canadian game-fiba rules
It seems many of you have not noticed that this is a Canadian university game played under FIBA rules. You CANNOT have a technical foul if contact occurs, it must be a personal foul, common or...

don't pass on calls
Nothing worse than seeing a player get injured. it appears the injured girl had committed a foul but very hard to say for sure. The ref was there and if a foul was committed it had to be called...

right call
not much to argue about, the call was right and solid. However, the ref should have done a better job of selling it. He knows how much time there is, he looks up at 18 sec. We have an expression...

the trail or the C if he/she is across from the table. This is, as was said earlier, discussed in the pregame, not with 1:01 to go

fiba signals
from the FIBA point of view, the Technical foul signal and time out signal are almost identical, many think I have called a T on the coach (at first) when I show the signal and point to his bench.

too easy it seems, although it did not happen, we did inform the coach anyone could shoot. thought he may sent the best shooter from the bench to take them but he did not, he may not have know he...

clarity
I like this discussion between different sets of rules, good to hear
In FIBA, contact during a dead ball is a personal foul. it can be deemed an unsportsmanlike foul as there was no attempt to play...

I did not mean to confuse anyone but I wanted just to use a short form
unsportsman like personal foul which can occur during a deal ball and can be canceled if there is an offsetting USP or T foul...

techs can only be not contact fouls and USP must involved contact. by the way I did score 94 on the very tricky FIBA exam this year, so I usually get the rules right

not stupid
this is a good question and does happen. In Fiba equal gravity fouls cancel. Double fouls go back to the team in control as in the case of most double fouls. However, in this case one foul is...

no doubt
In FIBA, an unsporting foul occurs when you disregard the spirit of the game, here the defender clearly had no intentions of playing the ball, he ran the shooter, clear and simple. In FIBA this is...

just a reminder that in FIBA we do not have bonus. FIBA refers to free throws after the fourth fouls per quarter as "being in penalty" not bonus.

no way
tell your conference to switch to FIBA rules and you will not have to give out T's anymore for these type of minor errors.
