I guess there is one question that needs to be asked.
Was your partner actually standing OOB when the kid tossed the ball to him? Since he is a newer (kind of) official, it is possible that he thought he was in the way of a player that he might not have been aware of. However, we have all seen this at some point or another, I just toss the ball back to the player. As we are moving up the floor I tell them it is not necessary for me to "check" the ball for them and that they can go ahead and inbound after a make. I usually see this happen in the first game of a season for some team. |
