Opinion on a rat's "honesty"

Double-A game. Sounds like the umpire kicked the call on a play at the plate that decided the game. The player who was called safe to win the game says "I was out."

Is it just me or does that...

another avenue?

WWTB, what about your friend contacting PBUC directly? I heard they might be starting their own umpire school.

Managers & Players will complain

Managers and players will complain, that's what they do.

What bothered me most about the AMLU's publicizing of these types of incidents when the replacment umpires were doing the games was their...

Good work

The replacement umpires did a very good job at the seven or so games I attended. Saw a few missed rotations but nothing that a fan would notice and nothing that upset the field staff.

Personal Choice

Choosing to work or not to work was a personal choice. At the games I went to the replacement umpires did a very good job. The replacement umps did not deserve the abuse, threats, and onslaught of...

Beating a dead horse to glue

SCUMP,

I think anybody but the most partisan AMLU apolgists is aware of the union hypocrisy, but the strike's over, can't we put this to bed?

I heard that AMLU guys can't believe they held...

Please explain

Can you explain? To us country folk it sounds like you're saying that they missed two months of pay to get an extra $30 per month per diem. I'm not real strong at math but it seems like that would...

go union

Gotta love that mentality-

1. It's not okay for guys to take work that AMLU umpires are refusing to do. They're "scabs."
2. It is okay for AMLU umpires to take work from umpires who usually do...

Let's get the facts straight eh?

Huh?

They can strike away. I don't know if its a good decision or not. The proof is in the pudding and we can't tell until this is over. My problem is with the late night phone harassing phone...

Great stuff!

I thought most physicists had come to the conclusion that it was impossible for a fastball to rise, but that the really hard throwers have a ball that drops less, giving the...

I read a quote somewhere that in the last few years only a handful of umpires would have been affected by the deductible increase because most umps stay in-network and that the union was being...

spring

Do you think MiLB can tell MLB clubs how much to pay? I'd be surprised if they could.

So the minor lg umps turned down $100 per day? Did that include per diem and housing or is that separate?

Working at the Ballpark

I'm just saying that many people would trade their daily grind for the "grind" of going to a pro ballpark each day. I've seen umpire and other facilites in new minor league parks and they're really...

Touching the bases

I thought this was a simple one but a manager blew a gasket.

R1 on first. Batter his a ball deep right that hits fair and takes a bounce into the stands for a ground rule double. R1, who had...

El Paso

There was a game in El Paso forfeited because a visiting farm director thought the field was too wet and was mad the umpires wouldn't call it. Don't recall when exactly but one of the clubs was a...
