DP Flex violation Oregon- Kentucky game

Did any of you see this DP/Flex rule violation? The Kentucky player ended up being removed (restricted to bench). But, there was so much back and forth between coaches by the plate umpire, that it...

Umpire incorrect foul call

I was in C, working with a 1st year umpire. Partner rules a batted ball close to plate as a foul ball. Offensive coaches go ballistic and my partner comes out to talk to me. He says catcher picked it...

Offensive Coach Yelling out Pitch Location

I was recently at a game, NFHS in Kentucky, in which the offensive coach would watch where the catcher moved to after giving the sign, and then during the pitcher’s windup would yell to his batter...

Runner Interference, opposite side

This happened in a NFHS game, but I assume the answer would be the same for all games played on the diamond. 1 out, runner on second. Popup on infield in the area between F1, F3 and F4. F6 also...

Courtesy Runner Timing

In NSA and High School (KY), can a courtesy runner be inserted for catcher or pitcher at any time while they are on base, or does it have to be done as soon as they first get on base?

Pop up, tag

Runners 1st & 3rd, one out. Popup caught by second baseman, runner tags at 3rd, but not at 1st. Runner crosses plate before second baseman throws to 1st for 3rd out due to no tag. No run?

Runner touches home before 1b appeal

Runner on 3rd, 2 outs. Batter hits ground ball to SS, throw pulls first baseman off of bag, but batter-runner runs over the base without touching it. After runner from third had touched home, first...

Trapped Catch of Throw

Batter hits grounder and F5 throws low to F3. Umpire was in C. Catch of throw forces F3 to catch close to ground and momentum causes her catch "followthrough" to touch the ground. Is umpire...

Obstruction/Missed Base

NSA, but I assume the call would be the same in all leagues.

Batter hits ball to the outfield, runner from 2nd is obstructed by 3rd baseman (who is standing on base), and umpire makes delayed dead...

So, then, the bottom line?: if the ump told the coach that in his judgment, the pitcher was making a play, the ump was within his rights to do so? I know the pitcher did not hold the ball in the...

LBR - What's a Play?

NSA Fastpitch: I know the rule book says that if the pitcher makes a play, including a fake throw, that the LBR does not apply. But, what's a play?

Last night, the runner remained off 2B,...

R1, R3, no outs. After pitch leaves pitcher's hand, R1 begins...

What's the best...
