Injured Player Sub/Free Throws
Want to make sure I got this right:
A1 is fouled in the act of shooting, awarded 2 free throws. As a result of the foul A1 hits the ground hard and injures his elbow, coach quickly comes out on the floor. At this point, coach has two options: 1) call a timeout to keep A1 in the game if A1 is able, orI know I have heard that somewhere, but can't remember where and if it applies to NFHS or not. |

Rule Set ???
I believe that the interpretation my be different in rule sets other than NFHS, i.e. NBA.
Unfortunately, I'm not the guy to comment on rule sets other than NFHS. Hopefully, someone with that ability will be moseying along in a few minutes.

"Hearing" about it somewhere would make me look it up immediately, instead of going years wondering about a rule.
There are no rules in NCAA or NHFS that prevent an injured player from returning to a game.

In NCAAM, the opposing coach chooses from A2 - A5 to shoot the FTs (assuming the player wasn't removed for blood). |

Agreed...that is why I asked because I thought this was the scenario he was asking about and then all responses were that A1 could go back in. Just wanted to be sure his question was interpreted correctly.

The timeout to buy A1 in, removal after coach on floor to attend to A1, and A6 shooting A1 free throws I knew. The unsure part was A1 returning later after A6 has shot the free throws (and clock has properly started).
A previous (somewhat veteran) partner had told me he was ineligible to, and I had forgotten to look until the situation came up for me last night. I did not see it in the book but wanted to check with other people who have been around longer to make sure it wasn't an old case play or interpretation that showed that is how the Fed wanted it handled but didn't make a rule clear. |
