We don't get mileage here. We get $80 flat fee for a HS varsity game so after you take out mileage expense, etc. it isn't a lot but this is a hobby for me - and the only hobby I have ever had that actually made me a few $.

We get zip. All ours are doubleheaders. GV/BV is 100 for 3 whistle, 115 for 2.

A LA near me has a combined population of about 600,000, stretching as far as 75 minute away. Anything in the 2 central cities has no mileage, but everything outside of that area does, in a per km model.

If one lives in a city where mileage is paid, you luck out.

A prolific referee once had a double-header in the city that is 75 minutes away. Because of their remote location, they actually played HS games in the morning in order to secure quality referees. Away he went for a double in the a.m. Game fees totaled $72, and mileage was around that too.

Coming back into town, he stopped in another city along the way and did a 2 more HS games in the afternoon, with full travel money, even though he was just on his way back home from the a.m. games. $72 and about $30. He then did a club game late afternoon (in the same city) but since this was a different user group, was also paid full travel money again. $35 and $30.

He then showed up at the bi-weekly meeting (about 10 minutes late) and was permitted to leave because he had the 2 men's league games that night at a HS near his home. No travel, since it was in the central city. $70 for those games.

In total, he made about $380 for one day's work, thanks to the mileage "double dipping".

I thought TN played GV/BV DH. You get $80 for 1 game or 2?

You are correct, $80 is for a GV/BV double, 3 person crew. $50 for single Varsity 3 P.C.

Fee set by TSSAA board of control. Board is school administrators no representation for the referees.

That was my question, too. If he gets $80 for a game, things have really improved in Tennessee!

Over 100 mile trek tonight for $65 and no mileage. As a matter of fact we will drive past every other school in this conference on the way to the game. Oh well, it usually happens once a year.

Here it's a flat $70 game fee for V at all schools with no travel. There are two schools who are an exception though. Both are way outside the city, but the (relatively) closer one pays $13 for travel, and the other pays $20. However the travel only goes to one official, so we're strongly encouraged to carpool.

I have games tonight and tomorrow at the same school involving the same two schools (boys tonight, girls tomorrow). No mileage, but it's paid 3-person, so I'm not complaining.

in my state its 50 bucks for varsity (almost always two games) and 33 for jv. (almost always two) 51 cents per mile, they pay one guy on each crew as driver. huge state with small population, so driving 200 miles to/from a game is not unheard of.

Wow are we fortunate in ND.

We have a 2 class system for HS basketball. Class A games are 2 18 minute halves and we get $64 for 1 varsity game and $34 for subvarsity. For class B (small towns) they play 8 minute quarters adn we get $61 for varsity and $32 for subvarsity games.

All class A games are 3 whistle and the class B games are 50/50 on 3 whistle coverage. Also, we get $.55/mile for mileage if we leave town and the rider(s) gets $.05/mile if the total round trip is over 100 miles.

Here in NE some schools pay mileage, but not many. Highest check of the year is a GV/BV DH paying $133 each (3man). No mileage

Just curious, cause that's what we worked when I lived in TN 12-15 years ago. Back then we got $60 for a GV/BV DH.

Here the minimum pay for a single game is $50, 3-person. Most conferences pay $60 for a single and some pay $65. Travel, as I said in the OP, is a patchwork quilt of rules and policies set by the conferences.
