Sox avoid the sweep, and Yanks are on the other side of one of those lopsided scores. Six games is a little closer than I'd like, obviously, but at least they're still in front. Lester's start was disappointing, but the offense finally woke up a little for the Sox.
Dodgers have been shut out three straight games, have lost 4 of 5 and 15 of 19. That's not a good stretch. Wonder how Grady Little's feeling lately.

I've got another question as well, completely unrelated to the Phillies. Did anyone see the Mariners game last night? We had a question about the play where the first baseman apparently didn't catch the ball, but the runner was ruled out. It was at the end of an inning. Can anyone explain the rule that was used for that out? |

Take yer baseball rules question over to them. (Let me know what they say when you get your answer btw, I didn't see the game but can think of a number of ways this might happen.)

Also: (when the other team was going to shoot a FT) "See that basket, see that ball, come on stupid, hit the wall!" OK, I'll stop now.

He doesn't seem to be making the adjustment to set-up guy very well, does he? 4 game lead? Sox have been playing .500 ball over the last 50 games; Yankees have just been on fire. Seems like they're scoring 10 runs per game over the last couple weeks. Almost doesn't matter if you have a crappy pitching staff if your offense is doing that. There's still 6 games left for the Sox and Yanks. Those two series will decide it, I think. I heard that the Tigers have the most losses since the All-Star break in the AL. But that's small consolation for Sox fans. Maybe Mick and I can just commiserate.

Geeze, what would you two do if you both weren't in first place in your respective divisions? |
