Typo? Should be "twinkie"? Twinkie in Bert's eye(not that there's anything the matter with that)?

Careful, your subtlety is showing.

Don't get me started on the cream filling. Brad will lock this up faster than you can say "Billy Packer's an idiot".

Sox look like they're on their way to getting swept in NY. Big play in the 7th. Youkalis called out for leaving the base path. I don't know the rule well enough to argue with the call, so I have to assume that they got it right. The NESN guys pointed out that it looked like Youk didn't leave the base path until after he'd gotten past A-Rod.

Instead of 2nd and 3rd with 1 out, it was man on 2nd with 2 outs. That's a game changing call. Ouch.

There's a thread on it over in Baseball:
link to the thread

By rule, a runner's basepath is a direct line from wherever he is to the base he's trying to acquire. Once the defense begins to play on a runner, he must remain within 3 feet of that basepath. Should he deviate, the runner is out (the ball is not dead, so other runners may advance).

Presumably, after their little huddle the crew in the Yankees-Sox game determined that Youk was outside the allowable 3 feet. This call can be made retroactively, and runners placed accordingly.

Notice that the rule has nothing to do with a direct line between the bases.

Well, those Red Sox sure do know how to get swept without embarrassing themselves. 3 very nice losses, they can even blame the shut-out in the last game to an unusual ump-call.

Nice going.
