Mussina starts, the Yankees have the home field advantage thanks to Matsui, and they still give up 15 hits and 8 runs to -- the Devil Rays!! (Hmmmm, I seem to remember the Sox losing to the Rays on Opening Day last year. . .)

Course it doesn't help when your biggest big-ticket acquisition takes backward K's in his first 2 at bats, and also knocks your long-reliever (Quantrill) out of the game by running into him on a defensive play.

Giambi didn't look bad, tho. I wasn't awake to see his 1st inning homer, but I saw his liner off the wall for a double. Of course, he let a lazy pick-off move go right through his legs on defense. . .

Ahhhhhh, yes. First real baseball I've watched since the ALCS. Can we really call it "real" baseball, when it's played in Japan, at a time when nobody in either team's home market was awake to see the first pitch, in a dome that had all the atmosphere of a museum?

Doesn't matter, I guess. It was fun to watch, regardless.

Talking I am not offended.

But I would really not want to read about a sport that has nothing to do with the board you posted on.

I will only speak for myself. But I am sure I am not the only one.

Peace

And yet you did. . . Even after a major disclaimer.

No Chuck.

You make it seem like people are offended when that is not the case. I have bigger issues to be "offended" by. But I cannot understand if this is so serious to you, why not go to the Baseball Board and make this post? Or do so on the "Off-Topic" Board as well? The only one that seems offended is you. Because a post was removed before of this nature and you had to make your "beef" public. I guess I do not understand what you expect?

Peace

Fine, Rut. You're not offended. I don't think I ever said or meant to say that you were offended. You simply said you'd rather not read about baseball on a basketball board; and I merely pointed out that you did.

I'm not taking this seriously at all. That was kind of the point of the over-the-top disclaimer in the thread title. I'm just trying to have a little fun. You, of course, are free to read it or not as you see fit.

You may now have the last word on the topic, b/c I'll refrain from replying to you again in this thread. It's supposed to be for fun comments about the Yankees.

Where's JR, anyway? dblref? I expected to hear from those guys. Dan's the only one who bothered to take the bait.

Ah, there's JR!! Yeah, Torre seems to have a real problem with those Florida teams, eh?

Chuck,

You are so predictable.

I am just having a little fun with you. But I do understand why folks would not want to read it and understand why the other posts were thrown out. But because it does not fit your narrow way of thinking, you have to draw even more attention to a trivial matter.

Talk about baseball for 4 pages. The Red Sox just like the Cubs are just not going to win anything as usual this year.

Peace

Rut,
Chuck is merely filled with angst, so he took exception to your opinion
Before long, he knows he'll be a 1/2-game down, ...but 12 ahead of my Tigers after 6 games.

[/B][/QUOTE]I blame it all on the lack of an all-star second baseman. Something must be done, I tell ya! Or heads will roll!

And the Tigers will still have more World Series trophies than the Red Sox. But what else is new.

Peace
