Not sure you ever heard the answer, but the ruling was "running lane interference," as the batter-runner did not have both feet within the running lane to first base and subsequently interfered with the first baseman's opportunity to make the play. The ball is dead, the runner is out, and other runners (if any) return if the interference is not the third out (as I think it was in this play).
