Your plan works well until a coach attempts to use a CR as a player that's been in the game already, but hasn't been a CR. Your BU wouldn't have all the substitutions on his card, would he?

In my opinion, PU keeps track of ALL substitutions. You may be dragging your notes out everytime, but that's part of the game.

If a coach wants to do something that is not in compliance with the rules, he will find a way. As BU, the first time I see a new CR, I will question it but, maybe your BU's can't handle that chore, so I understand.

So it's okay for him to do through the lineup, instead of some other way?

If you keep your lineup correctly, he won't find a way to cheat -- at least by using the lineup. In fact, using your method will make it EASIER for him to cheat.

Question it to whom? The PU? Wouldn't it then just be easier for him to keep up with it? Your way would delay the game in a way that it shouldn't be delayed.

The Lineup Card -- Your Friend?

I put lineups in my shirt pocket and keep all changes on a special sheet I designed for this purpose that is in my left ball bag - Subs, CR's, conferences by inning, offensive and defensive, pitching changes, official warnings, etc. It is similar to the one that comes with Honigs little notebook, but I have more stuff on mine. I can only write stuff reported to me, and the lineup sheet I only need if there is an issue I need to refere to official lineup for, such as BOO.

It also won't work if the CR then tries to enter the game in another offensive position in that same inning.

It doesn't take too long to write "4CR2 -2" on the back of the card. (#4 Courtesy Runner for F2 - 2nd inning).

It's specifically UIC's job; UIC should do it.
