Thank you'all...

Regarding the Obstruction cancellation, I should have worded that differently...she did reach the base she was going to but you are right, she could have tried to go back to...

Interference/Obstruction

Hi all,
First Q&A for 2015!

USSSA 16U-
R on second. Ball is hit about 5 feet directly behind 2nd base. No fielder really has a play on it, except maybe the center fielder who is charging in....

Uhhh..

Thank you Andy...that's pretty much essentially what Longhorn said. I get it.

Thank you Cecil for correcting the mistaken use of INTERFERENCE instead of OBSTRUCTION, subtly.

I am...

Cecil...in Q1 then you are saying the ball MUST be in the catcher's glove? It doesn't matter if the ball is on its way or close? THAT is the main disagreement we have. Many here want us to make that...

Wouldn't most agree...

That "Malicious" (at least in my case) has only been used in sparing case such as a runner bowling over 1B or a catcher? In both these cases a runner has extra time to think about it while running it...

Obstruction/Interference- USSSA Fastpitch

This may have been covered. I should get on more often. Apologies if so.
Again, for my own peace of mind and once again written proof to show the arguing "group" I ask;

If the runner bumps into...

Yeah, so noted, Tom.
It was the last game since it was the championship round for that team, anyway so more than likely they weren't interested in their books anymore.
Thanks

Slick,
I stand corrected that is official NFHS rules, NOT PIAA. Thank you for correcting that major error.

Second, I am thankful to meet the official spokesperson for others on this site...I was...

Cecil....LoL, oh yeah....she knew what she was doing; you phrased it more succinctly.

Manny, get what you're saying but I was going with 10c of that rule which in this situation was more...

Andy,
Thanks for that clarification on the dead ball/strike. Half right is better than none I'm supposin'!

The play at second was a slide in, close play where the ball came off the glove and went...

As stated, assuming ball was fair.

No obstruction, it sounded more like just fans being fans and players being players...not trying to confuse the base runner (Uhhh...where was her
1b coach,...

One of those days at the tourneys..

Two things I'm double checking myself on.....

1. Batter squares to bunt against a hard throwing pitcher. Obvious attempt. But she gets hit. I know it's a strike, but this girl is pretty hurting...

Two quick questions

Had this discussion- I was wrong (I guess): A girl on 2nd & 3rd. Batter drills it to center field, 2nd and 3rd score...batter gets to 3rd. Field ump saw her clearly miss first. Here comes the appeal,...

Ok...but it was an appeal play and the home ump had no idea...

Go ahead and hit me with a tire jack....simple pitch, catch mishandles it and ball rools into the batter's feet to where the catcher can't get to the ball right away cause it's tangled up in the...

Good point...

Thanks all, the rules not hard per se after it is ruled, I just got tired of the coaches, depending on whether or not it negated some of their runs trying to pull the fly vs. line drive card. It gets...

touchback or safety

Correct me if I'm wrong, but unless the offensive team caused the ball to go out of bound in the end zone (after the fumble they would have had to had some action to touch the ball again to direct it...

I was reading someone else's post, had 2 on my mind.....

But you did answer the question fine for me on the "grey area" I was concerned about.
But the part about letting it fall to the ground,...

To kinda piggy back on infield fly....

NFHS rules.....season's not for a few months yet but wanna get this right.

Last season, lot of coaches complained it was not an "Infield fly" because the arc of the ball was not a straight up,...
