I'd say you did the right thing by letting it go....

I'd say you did the right thing by letting it go. If you thought the pitcher didn't come to a good stop because he was trying catch R1 flat footed and hence hold him on better than a balk should've...

I had a painful one this year...pitch in the dirt..swinging strike three...deflects off the catcher and nails me in the throat...as I'm writhing in pain the ball stays against my neck under my throat...

That base has not legally been attained by the B/R because R1 has not advanced (it's still R1's)(think of what happens when 2 runners occupy 1 base...who is out?...th)...therefore he has not reached...
