How many bases ??

The pitcher steps off the rubber and throws to first base striking the base runner in the helmet. The ball ricochets off his helmet and lands out of the field of play, over the fence down the first base line.

How many bases should the base runner be awarded ??

Thanks,

Popcorn,

Pay close attention, Popcorn.................

1 from the rubber,
2 from the field!

If F1 throws from the rubber, award 1 base.
If F1 steps off (as in your stich), award 2 bases.

1 from the rubber,
2 from the field!

The one he was going to plus one. Second base.

LOL. Now, did anyone take that seriously? Two bases. R1 to third.

But we'd then be talking about a bloody cricket match. Tea time. Cheers, Mate.

Two and you might check the runner to see how many of you he sees.

Most of the fields I work, for this sit. to happen, it's 30 ft or so to the first baseline fence. Unless it glances off the top and skims over the fence, I'm thinking OUCH!!

I'm going to do my best troll impression here -

But if the runner was diving back to first you award bases in the direction he was running, so he gets first and home

You need practice: nobody's going to bite on awarding R1 home.
