Good positioning. Great call.

My advice would be to be on the GL earlier. Ball was inside the 5 before you were on the GL. Try the 15, or 10 if other coverage is a factor.

Selling the call is needed here because of the location of the play and the possibility conflicting signals.

The wing was likely no closer than the 7 with the players' backs to him. This is a good one for the BJ to take himself, imho.

Hope you didn't hurt your shoulder while patting yourself on your back.

It is patting yourself on the back to show a video of a close call?

Peace

Thanks. I will post more when I get them. I like to hear opinions from those I do not know personally.

Peace

Might be the most surprising thing I've read from you all year.

Hearing opinions and agreeing with them are two different things. Some things people are not goign to agree with. I really think that is the problem with many people here, they want people to agree with them on every damn thing no matter how absurd those positions are or no matter how much experience you bring to the table.

Peace

I can't get enough video. I've watched every game my crew has officiated this season and have learned so much. There are so many scenarios and case plays out there. To see them on video and break them down for learning purposes is invaluable.

I do the same on my football crew and when I work basketball games. I am involved in a football class and a basketball class (I developed) and I use video all the time and show things I did good and bad. This is what I do normally and why I posted the video here.

Peace

RE: the class you developed - is this something you do in person or on line? Are there other videos available for me to view?

Both are sponsored by an organization that I am a member or sit on the Board of. There are videos involved but they are not posted on our website from either sport. Most of those videos are rather elementary too as the class is for newer officials. But if you are interested, I might be able to have the videos housed on a site somewhere. I am looking to do the same on my class videos too.

Peace

When I was officiating in western Washington (the bigger schools), nearly all the schools would mail you a DVD of the game if you dropped off a blank one with them before the game. I did this and found it very useful.

Except when I blew a call, and the association decided to torture me for it.

I'm not sure if high schools in your area are using Hudl but if they are, ask them for a downloadable link or a recruiter copy. The downloadable link will be a WMV or MP4 of the entire game so you can watch it offline. You can watch the recruiter version online free but you don't get the full editor functionality of Hudl. 75% of the schools we worked this year use Hudl and the others said they needed to start using it.

Unfortunately I do not think a lot of people use that site yet. Most schools right now in my area are using a site where the games are held live and in most cases can be reviewed later. The problem is downloading is not easy or possible (the site I used to show this play). I think in the next few years that may change, but right now this is not widespread.

Peace

Yes, the crew I'm on has a HUDL account which we use as a tool to become better officials. Coaches do a good job of sending us their game film.

Always interested in seeing other situational/game films too, though.
