I was a varsity umpire for 4 years and called it only once or twice, a couple more times in lower levels, but I only call this when it's an obvious ploy and planned by the lineman/LB to free up the LB, it didn't appear that way, though I only saw one crappy view on you tube (other than live), if anyone has a better look please post.
I'm a Colts fan and agreed with all 3 calls (unfortunately). I've been arguing with several Colts fans though who not only think they were bogus calls but that the officials missed several other calls against the Chargers. They contend on the facemask in overtime that the offensive lineman was also committing a face mask on Sessions. There was some minimal contact with his face mask but it was definitely not grasping. They started pulling out rules about illegal helment contact and any contact outside the frame to say there should have been a foul. We've tried to educate him about applying philosophy with the rules but it's a lost cause.

I moved to the umpire position this year and never had a defensive holding on a d-lineman. When I saw that I was impressed that the U caught it. It was fairly quick (although the spin by the o-lineman probably helped make it pretty obvious in real time) and he could have very easily been looking at another block at that moment. That is what amazes me about the NFL guys. They just don't miss those kinds of things. Great and correct call. I just wish he hadn't seen it.

I thought the facemask was iffy, but the other two calls were solid. I really didn't see a twist or pull, but I don't know the NFL wording on the FM rule.

yeah after looking at the defensive holding again, I can see that the LB who made to tackle 2-3 yds in the backfield came through the open hole (which was occupied by an O lineman with his hands in the air whining) anyway I guess I got a minor attack of Fanboyitis; I'm just glad that it is usually cureable with common sense and reasoning!
