The long and short is that the endline is meaningless until a ballcarrier touches the ground out of bounds or the ball touches a player that is out of bounds.

Thanks for all the responses. I just like to play Devil's Advocate at meetings and bring stuff like this up to make some of the old timers think. I always felt that I would call this a touchdown, but I don't think the rules are 100% clear on this situation.
