Violation?

For the "newbies" only please.

A1 ends his dribble in the front court near the division line. He is trapped by two Team B players. He decides to pass to A2 who is also in the front court near the division line, about 15 feet away. The two B players are in A1's way, so A1 puts some "English" on the bounce pass. The ball bounces in the back court, and then (a) continues on to A2 who then catches it, or (b) A2 lets it bounce in the front court first, and then catches the pass.

In both cases, the pass is successful and A2 continues on with the 4-on-3.

Any calls to be made?

If I did call it ,it might not have been a fast whistle !
Here goes;
team control in front court
Last to touch or touched by before it went into the backcourt
First to touch in front court
Violation .
Sometimes it's fun being a newbie!

I thought someone might say "front court" here.

That's my point... the ball is in the front court, not the back court.

Well, I am a new official.

I'm going to say violation in (a) and legal in (b).

His statement was correct regarding the player being the first to touch in the frontcourt. And given the scenario, that is actually sufficent to make the right ruling even if it isn't for the general case.

That's My Answer and I'm Sticking To It ...

Trail should start his ten second backcourt count as soon as the ball touches the backcourt.
