Can you quote the entire part of the rule that mentions "actionless contest", and how it applies in this situation? Would you use the same procedure to call a T on a player that travels 5 (or more) times in a game? After all, you have to stop the game, wait for player to step OOB to take a throw-in, etc., wasting all kinds of seconds that shouldn't have to happen, right?

Of course I wouldn't do it for traveling. That is just silly. I just let the other team in bound the ball. I am not waiting 20-40 seconds each time I send a player out to tuck in their shirt. 5 seconds to inbound the ball for the other team for a travel. This isn't even close to the same thing as multiple infractions of the uniform rule.

Rule: 10-1-5 Allow the game to develop into an actionless contest, this includes the following and SIMILAR ACTS:

b. Delay the game by preventing the ball from being made promptly live or from being put in play.

I could definately classify this under this rule but maybe a better option would be an unsporting tech according to Rule: 4-19-14

4-19-14An unsporting foul is a noncontact technical foul which consists of unfair, unethical, dishonorable conduct or any behavior not in accordance with the spirit of fair play.

if a player is overtly and blatantly violating a rule over and over again with no regard to the officials instruction I am gonna whack 'em. It is unfair because everyone else has to abide by the rule but they keep violating it on purpose. Whack. The dictionary defines unethical as "unwilling to adhere to proper rules of conduct." Whack!! Dishonorable means (according to the dictionary) "Lacking integrity; unprincipled." Whack!! They don't have the integrity to follow the rules that everyone else has to abide by and they keep wasting my time and everyone else's time making it an actionless contest. Whack again!!

I restate my previous question: Are you telling me you would let the same player do this 5 times a game or more?

Short of seeing a kid purposefully untuck his jersey, I'd probably just send him out.

Even that wouldn't do it for me. There's a rule to deal with it, just like for fouls, which cost a good 20-30 seconds each. And there's no way you'd have 8-10 incidents with the same player in four quarters. No kid wants to sit on the bench.

Only if he's doing it specifically to spite you. That will "never" happen.

Even then, the "last" time I send him out, I tell the coach what is going on and how I will view any further transgressions.

Me to Player: "tuck your shirt in" (sometimes with a "please" at the end)

Player half-heartedly tucks shirt with some of the shirt still un-tucked.

Me to Player: "Go to the bench...Coach, give me another player untill this one figures out how to tuck his shirt in."

So far, has worked everytime.

No T.

During the game, the PG for one team kept having his shorts too low. My P was the one that always caught him (three times) and reminded him to hike them up. I also knew what my P wanted, and his glance to me was him asking me to tell the coach about the issue. (There was a POE about uniforms.) He asked the kid why they always fall down and the kid says that he doesn't like them in the "normal" position.

So the game goes to overtime, and this PG is bringing the ball up uncontested. That's when my P (as trail) noticed why the kid's shorts were always low: the kid lowers them himself. While dribbling, the kid lowers them himself, without missing a beat.

My eyes nearly came out of their sockets. The kid's coach says out loud, "I told you someone would catch you some day". I don't remember who won, but it provided good fun for a week of post-games.

It's a good thing that officials didn't say this to Freddy when he played high school basketball.
