[QUOTE=RichMSN;807779]I prefer, "Keep moving, keep moving" said in that player's direction.
I stole that from one of your posts about three -four years ago and it works well for me. How many times do other officials warn before calling three seconds? I usually give two verbal hints and then bust them at the varsity level. |

Personally I tell guys to get out but not so noticeably that the coach actually notices that I'm doing it. But I will call 3 seconds if I have to, even without first warning. Depends on the situation. In the video, the coach wasn't obnoxious in his approch and he presented a legitimate gripe (assuming that's what happened) so I would definitely keep an eye out for it.

If I see a legitimate attempt (and execution) to get out of the lane, I'll hold that call. If I see no attempt, it's a violation. Sometimes, people only learn via consequences. I agree with the coach in this video; it's not our job to coach. Just make the call.

I went to an IAABO camp one summer, and your butt got chewed bigtime if the clinicians heard you talking to kids in the lane. That said, outside of the jurisdiction where Bainsey officiates, get out talk was frequently used. Unofficially. IAABOwise.

![]() Just another reason I'm glad I live in an IAABO-free world.

Quite honestly, I have a greater problem with partners who chew on me for calling 3 seconds AFTER I HAVE TOLD THE PLAYER TO LEAVE THE PAINT QUITE DISTINCTLY than I do with guys telling players to get out.

I enjoyed the ending comment - "you got outplayed, don't blame the referees".
