Question Another you make the call for newbies

A1 is shooting a jump shot and while airborne is fouled by B1. After A1 returns to the floor but before the ball goes through the basket, A1 is fouled again by B1. The ball then goes through the basket. When reporting the fouls, the official is told by the scorer that the original foul on B1 is his fifth personal.

Here's the puzzle. The subsequent foul by B1 was for contact during a live ball because the ball had not yet gone through the basket, therefore it was still a live ball, so that foul cannot be a technical. So.....can B1 be charged with six personal fouls?

Holy crap, Mark, a multiple foul on one player? Would that make it a false multiple?

I'm pretty sure that would be my last game, though.

That's the fallacy right there.

So you can have a technical for a contact foul during a live ball?

Why complicate your life? If contact is not intentional or flagrant I'm ignoring the second foul.

And if it is, you can ignore the first.
