2 man crew

working a boys jv game. team A is up by two with 3 seconds to go in game. team B has endline throwin after a team A freethrow. B1 throws a bullet pass to B2 who is standing on sideline right in front of his bench (3/4 court pass). I'm the lead who is on the opposite side of floor at half court as team A is pressing. so when last second shot was taken i was on opposite side of floor and partner was just barely off the baseline. shot was taken in time buit not made. it was contested with some minimal contact down low. anybody got any suggestions how we could of got a closer look

Well, Mr. Bater at least added some punctuation this time. "Could of" still cracks me up every time, though.

All I can say is start at half court no matter what with your peripheral vision on all players near the center of the court and FC area. Then call what you see and make sure you do not guess on anything on the last second shot. You might have to help your partner or make the call based on the things you have talked about before this play took place.

Peace

If you're sure that this is the last shot - then as soon as I see the ball airborne, I think you can make that quick jaunt to the mid-court circle to rule on the play, so long as you will not get into anybody's way trying to play defense. It's better to be 25' away than 50'. You do have about 2 seconds while the ball is airborne. (Maybe 1 if the pass is a bullet.)
