Vocabulary
Just cuz I'm in a buried in the book, 'precise language' mood....

Baseline = 'End line'
Rim = 'Basket' which consists of the 'Ring' and 'Flange' and/or 'Braces'.

No offense to anyone. I just wish I could stop calling it 'the key'!!

Ya, well in a Senior Boys (V age) game the other day, a player asked me if there is a neutral zone under the basket. I immediately knew he meant the RA as in the NBA. You could imagine the look on my face. I wish I could call a T for that. The simple fact that there are no semi-circles on the court should have been his first clue.

Summer AAU game:
Called a PC on a play in which the defender was standing near the basket.
As I report the coach complains about the defender not being allowed to be down there, blah, blah, blah...
So before we administered the throw-in, I told the coach that I would go check for him. I walked out in the lane and looked around on the floor for a bit, then came back near the table and loudly said, "No, coach, it doesn't look like he was in the circle."

I would **love** to try that. I just might do it this year, too.

Reminds me of a buddy who does baseball and told me this story...coach was giving his plate umpire partner some lip from the 1st base coaching box about the strikezone when his team was up to bat. He stopped the game, took off his mask...walked to the 1st base coach box, put on his mask and said "PLAY BALL". Coach asked what he was doing....he said "PLAY BALL"....Next pitch was outside...."STRIKE". Looked at the coach and said "Well, I guess the view down here is not as good as you claim"

Many years ago my partner did the same thing to a coach in a basketball game. He had been b!tching all game (the coach) and so my partner sat next to him on the team bench. VERY funny
