CT doesn't have a shot clock, but some of the prep school leagues use one. I've seen it done with a 2-person crew.

The Eastern Shore of Maryland is all 2 person (until Region semis or finals) and we have the shot clock for girls.

Mass. uses the clock and two officials. Clock is 30 seconds for boys and girls, -- V, JV, Freshman -- but there is no 10-second backcourt count in the girls' game. I know only one league that does not use the clock at the freshman level.

Varsity only?

Boys AND Girls contests?

Time?
30 sec? 35 sec? 10 second count apply? Etc.....

Pros/Cons??
Three years ago the NFHS considered adding this as a state adoption. At that time they stated that seven states used a shot clock. Six of them have been mentioned in this thread: CA, ND, MD (girls), WA (girls), NY, and MA. I can't recall the 7th.

Could you please specify because I used to call there and St. Alban's, Gonzaga, St. John's, etc. did NOT employ a shot clock. If they do now, then it is a recent change.

Not quite true. Some of the private schools (i.e. The Potomac School) use it for girls. Don't remember any schools using it for boys.

Nevada: It's been a while since I worked a private school game in DC, but I know that some of the teams in the ISL (at least on the girl's side) use the shot clock. Two of the last games I called last year were GV 3-whistle games at Episcopal and Maderia, and the shot clock was used.

Is Episcopal the one with the old brick gym? If so, isn't it in VA?

I called boys games there, but never girls. They did not use a shot clock for those.

CA also has a 4-point line and 15-seconds in the key!

Should have seen WA's head coach's jaw drop when we were explaining those "differences"

Yep, it's the one on Seminary Road. As you may recall, Episcopal plays in the Independent School League (ISL), as does St. Stephens/St. Agnes, Madeira, GTown Visitation, yada, yada, and the shot clock is used on the girl's side. IREFU2 had mentioned that the shot clock was not used in VA, and I only wanted to point out that it is in fact used (for private school girls) in VA.

BTW, IIRC, Episcopal was founded in the late 1800's. That gym is OLD!
