High School Shot Clock

How many states are out there that use a shot clock in HS games?

I "think" Ca, NY, and Mass. does. Any others?

Varsity only?

Boys AND Girls contests?

Time?
30 sec? 35 sec? 10 second count apply? Etc.....

Pros/Cons??

Washington has shot clock for girls only. 30 seconds. No 10 second count in the back court.

I think it is a good thing as it allows for an easier transition into college ball for those girls who go on to play it.

What is the reasoning for using it for girls only? The biggest argument that I have seen against at the hs level is the cost involved..once you have the equipment why not use it for both? Boys play in college too:)

We do not use the shot clock here in NH for HS boys or girls, however many of the local Prep. schools do use the shot clock for both their boys and girls varsity games.

The same reason there are differences in men's rules and women's rules in college. Different ruling bodies. Washington is one of 2 (I think it's only 2) states that have separate governing organizations for boys and girls.

I am not sure why they only use for girls, but just how it has been here in WA for quite sometime. I would love to see it in the boys game too as it will make some teams shoot the ball and not hold and pass it for 3-4 minutes at a time.

None in VA.

None in Texas, although I have mentioned I wish they had one to slow the game down sometimes.

Every year the kids get faster.

Here in CA, it's standard for JV/Varsity, both Boys and Girls (30/35).

In San Diego, it's supposed to be used in Frosh games, but sometimes girls frosh won't use it for some reason.

North Dakota uses it in Class A boys (35 sec) and girls (30 sec). This is the upper division of basketball of two divisions.

Shot Clock

Minnesota is using it as an experimental rule this year in non conference and holiday tourney games where the school has the equipment and both schools agree to use it. 35 second clock.

Maryland

Maryland uses the 30 second shot clock for girls. No shot clock for the boys.

DC area private schools use it for girls and boys but most public schools don't.

My question are any states using it with only 2 officials?
