I've used the Frankenstein in all my games this year....to all of you contemplating, may I offer a suggestion. Do not give the Frankenstein until the ball has been blocked or the shot has been possessed via rebound. You may give it while the verticality by the defender is occurring and your partner, most likely the C has a foul, then the crew is up the creek without a paddle. Just wait til that play ends before you do the Frankenstein...

Pretty sure that the Frankenstein is with your hands extended out on a diagonal indicating that the defender wasn't vertical... Not what you are describing.

I've used it when calling a foul on a hit to signify that while the defender may not have swung, they didn't have lgp due to their lack of verticality.

It's interesting you say that. After filling in early in the season with one of the guys that worked the state semis 3A game last year, he was doing this. He's been around a long time and I learned a lot in that one game so I started trying a few things he was doing. I did two handed reporting for exactly one game after that. There was an evaluator there that night who asked me what in the world I was doing. I sheepishly told him why, and he told me to put a quick end to that new habit. Mixed signals but what could I do?
