~Sigh~

For YEARS Rick Roder contended the ball could NOT be considered a "caught foul tip".

This caused a large argument between Roder and Jim Evans. This went on for years.

Jim's contention is that if the pitch that bounces can be hit and all activity counts how could someone be so backward to not think the ball could be caught for as a foul tip.

About two years ago, afte extensive discussions with MLB Umpires and rules gurus, Roder changed his position to agree with Evans.

I think you have old information.

And yet he seemed to be considering it a "caught foul tip" in order to keep the ball live and a strike, and then he considered it an uncaught third strike in this case! That seems like double jeopardy.
