You don't have to umpire SP in shorts but I sure do enjoy it better than pants when it's 100+ degrees out.

Rita, were you around in the days when . . . what was his user name . . . Ed, used to talk about "alleged adults" or AAs? That's what you're dealing with.

I think that was in the eTeamz days. I wonder whatever happened to Ed; I used to enjoy his stories of practicing how to judge pitch arc, involving a ten foot pole and his cap.

Ed was even pre-eTeamz....a board called McGriffs.....totally unregulated and un-moderated...no registration was required...great for awhile, until too many people started taking advantage of those facts.

Ed has some great AA stories....and his pole was 11 feet long, if I remember correctly.....

We tried to get Ed to come here when McGriff's started to get so bad.....but he did not want to go to a forum that made you register to post.

I loved his AA (and if I am not mistaken, he actually coined the acronym) stories too. He did not go to eteamz either if I recollect.

His lunch time pole stories always got to me too. He would drive to the local field and set up his pole for pitch height.....stand behind the plate imagining the pitch height while he ate his sandwich.

Ed was always good for a laugh.

I've had a better time as I've gotten used to it and them and vice versa.

The last two games have been the best. I had the captains together. I said,"You play, I'll umpire. We won't be umpiring by committee. But I will answer questions on plays. But I will only talk to you two."

And they did just play.

I only work girl's high school ball in my "twilight" years. When I had a family to feed and was chasing a $, I'd work any kind of ball, anywhere, anytime. Those days are long gone. My last "adult" games were some co-ed slo-pitch down here. It simply became annoying. The high school games are still fun and it helps a lot that FHSAA has a very strong set of rules concerning sportsmanship in place.
