Dead Ball Rule

Help settle a discussion. (Women FP Softball)
R1 on 1st Base no outs. Batter hits a line shot to the shortstop who catches the ball then throws to 1st to catch the runner off the bag. The ball gets past the 1st baseman and goes into dead ball territory.
Does the runner have to go back to tag-up then get 2nd or does she advance without tagging-up and get 3rd?
Do you know which rule explains it clearly for ASA, NFHS, and USSSA?

Assuming she hadn't already reached 2nd base at the time of the throw...

ASA:
The award is 3rd base. She's still required to tag up after the ball goes out of play. If she fails to do so, she's subject to appeal once the ball is returned.

I haven't decided if I should call it from the dugout or the outfield. Apparently, both have really great views!

Screw green, it ain't easy being blue!

I won't be coming here that much anymore. I might check in now and again.

Any base award still requires the bases to be run legally. As stated above, the award would have been 3rd in the play described, but, if the runner did not retouch 1st prior to advancing to 3rd they would be subject to appeal by the defense.

All I have to add is that this is the ruling in all softball and baseball rulesets I'm aware of. The ONLY difference comes into play in cases where R1 has passed 2nd base. On the OP, the ruling's 3rd base across the board, AND the runner still has to touch 1st.

Then you must not be aware of USSSA slow pitch!
