I'm confused a little by the wording of this question but I'll print it exactly and ask for help.T/f The batter is out when,in the umpire's judgment, she prevents a ball from entering the strike zone.Thanks.

When the batter prevents a pitch from entering the strike zone it is a dead ball and a strike. See rule 7-2-1-h.
She would only be out if she already had two strikes when she did this! (Of course, the unspoken understanding of the rule is that it is the batter's person/body that prevented the pitch from entering the zone- not contacting the pitch with the bat.) |

IMO, the intent is to deal with a batter hit by pitch outside the batter's box and before it reaches the plate, when, in the umpire's judgment, it might have been a strike (if it had reached the strike zone). What is the call?
Options: Dead ball, out. Dead ball, HBP, awarded 1st. Dead ball, HBP, ball on batter. Dead ball, HBP, strike on batter. Dead ball, no pitch. Your call?

All of which means the test answer is false. Probably.
