Let me describe it a little differently long fly to right, R1 waits to see if a catch is going to be made and B2 is running hard. R1 takes off as B2 is rounding 1st when obstruction occurs. B2 may very well only be two steps back of R1. Play at plate is standup. BU could very well be justified in awarding home.

A runner can't be put out between the two bases where they were obstructed. If the runner gets put out before reaching the base they would have reached, it's a dead ball, and the award(s) is/are made. Period, end of story.
Dave, there are 5 exceptions to that, though. |

True, there are, but none of them apply in this case.
