Base Awards
Runner on 2nd.......batter hits ball to short center field......ball drops.....runner on second feints toward 3rd....draws a throw from center fielder to 3rd base......runner on 2nd starts back to 2nd while the throw gets away from the 3rd baseman and goes out of play.
runner on 2nd gets? If batter runner had reached first base before the time of the throw, where does batter runner end up? Once again, thanks for your insight. |

illiniwek8,
On a ball thrown out of play by an outfielder, the award for all runners is two bases beyond the last base legally occupied at the time the ball left the thrower's hand (Time of Throw). In your sitch, the R2 (runner on 2nd) is awarded home and the Batter Runner is awarded 3B. It makes no difference whether the R2 is returning to 2B or attempting to advance to 3B. JM |
