now its two calls later and im asked via phone... does the batter have to keep one foot in the batters box while taking signs? .... NO... thats baseball.
And can they wear sweatbands on their forearms or on their legs? .... ok, common sense tells me that wearing a sweatband on your leg ISNT the manufacture's intended way of using that equipment.... might be fun to watch em try and wipe their foreheads tho... given the right age group.
But on the forearm and she's not pitching (or if she is pitching and its not distracting).. the rules seem to have no issues with that
On a personal note: i was mentored by much wiser umpires to find anything on a pitchers throwing arm distracting and it heads off problems later on, so that's what i use.

Since when did i become the rules freaking guru for our association?... i think they are just trying to catch me giving them a wrong answer. like i overheard last night... "little dude cant be right about that... its only gonna be his third year". grrrrr.

do they have close relatives in the PNW? extras from Dueling Banjos????and were those close relatives at a meeting for new umpires in Renton, WA on Monday night, even though they are veterans???? I think SRW and I may have met them.

ASA training class moderator: "Yes, the book doesn't say there is a certain amount of time someone has to have control of the ball for it to be a catch. However, if the guy makes a catch, runs 100 yards, chats up some good looking mom in the stands, and then drops the ball, I hope you still have a catch. You just have to be use a little common sense when others around you have NO common sense."

Dueling Banjos extras: "Now come on, the rule book says the release has to be voluntary. Are you trying to tell these folks the release doesn't have to be voluntary?"

Siiigh. Among things I hate, the ones I hate most are ones trying to get gotchas. If I uck fup, tell me. Otherwise, STFU.

I wish i was young.... but one good thing... im not as old as whiskers (I would add nor as handsome, but that would sound gei ) kinda stoked tonight.. did my first JUCO games ..... don't think the visiting coach will be asking for me to come call her home games...that woman was P!SSED. (tying run on third and 2 outs and her batter looks at a fat change-up for strike three) sigh... must called that coz i was in a hurry to get home. (like i haven't heard that one before)
