Can any of you out there relay to me how much your up front fees are, e.g. Association fee due at start of season (to cover admin, rule books, etc), and any payment you make to your assigner, etc? Ours are $96 total for both, once a season. How does it compare? Thanks.

Our state association charges $30/year. We also have a local basketball association with around 75 members. The local dues are $15/year. The local association pays our scheduling secretary $200/year(he only assigns a small #/% of the games worked by our association members).

In Pennsylvania our state assoc. dues are $25.00 per sport. My local chapter dues are $20.00 per year. This helps to cover chapter expenses. The fees paid to the league assignors come directly from the leagues. The PIAA does not allow assignors to charge officals or the local chapters an assignor fee to work a PIAA contest. My IAABO chapter dues are $45.00 per year. My affilation with IAABO is completly by choice. It is not required to work games in this area. As a side note, our game fees in the Philadelphia Area average $54-58 for a 2-man crew H.S Varsity game, $50-54 for a 3-man Varsity game and I believe the JV level is paying about $40-44 for a 2-man game.

TEXAS
$65 for 1st year, $90 for 2nd year, $100 for 3rd year and up. Of this, I think that about $45 goes to the state and the rest is local. Local dues include an association t-shirt, assignment secretary fees, and we sponsor two student/athletes for college scholarships at the end of the season. Our association also puts on and sponsors a "Classic" tournament over Thanksgiving as a fund-raiser. Our assignment secretaries (2) split a $5000 salary and usually receive a bonus after the season. HERE IN THE BASKETBALL CAPITAL (INDIANA):
$35 fee to state association each year. my individual regional officials association charges a $10 yearly fee. That's pretty much it. If you want to get licensed in other sports, you can do so for $5 per sport, unless you are a first-year official, in which you can take a rules test in one sport per season (that the sport is played in), and that is included in the $35 association fee. |
