You know, I have actually seen pitching plates made of wood. That means that there are wood and rubbers on softball fields.

You mean the rubber didn't break when that big ball came flying at it at 98 MPH? That's one tough rubber!

Dave I haven't decided if I should call it from the dugout or the outfield. Apparently, both have really great views! Screw green, it ain't easy being blue! I won't be coming here that much anymore. I might check in now and again. |

Parks guy: "I have to have about 10 minutes to bury the rubber." Me: "Then are you going to put in the new pitcher's plate?" Parks guy: Long pause, then smile. Chalk one up for a parks guy smart enough to figure that out. (Author's note: This guy obviously does not work for King County at Marymoor Park in Redmond. None would put in the work for a new pitcher's plate, much less be smart enough to get the joke. However, they WOULD be smart enough to give every umpire a $35 parking ticket for failure to pay the buck to enter the sacred parking lot.)

They may of thought it hit the pitchers foot or off of the pitcher and went into the air! Who knows what they were thinking? Maybe about a mercy rule and a cold drink on the way home!
