Federation Softball Rules Question

Hello:

Can anyone cite the rule for softball for a team playing short-handed?
Federation rules (NFHS)...not ASA or Little League.

Start with 8?

There must be 9 to start (FP) and 8 to continue. NFHS Rule 3-1-1; NFHS Rule 3-3-8 (in addition to the rules mick cited.)
