Fold a sock or dish rag in half and put it under your sore spot (heel, ball of foot, whatever) inside your shoe. That, plus turning back a few games to give me extra rest, did the trick and got me...

DTTB, what you said makes sense, regarding transfer - ability. I think that is a pretty reasonable measure of what to do as an official.

The NF and NCAA make reference to excessive or uniform-saturated blood, respectively, but what do we do with a player whose uniform has a spot or a few spots of blood on it? I searched high and low...

Other than the manual, I meant

I have not yet received my ordered manual. I was hoping someone had an Internet link -- my search on the Internet has so far been fruitless.

Thanks, Bob

Do you have a reference? My search in the officiating section at NCAA.org turned up nothing. Thanks!

Was that a significant anniversary year of the Big 10, maybe its 100th? That is what I seem to recall, but my memory may be foggy.

"I've not heard that. It could be a regional thing or a personal preference among assignors"

Actually, I think you're right, that it may be a preference here, as opposed to a nationwide NCAA...

I had heard the NCAA now frowns upon these shoes because they 'draw attention away from the game and to the officials and their feet' or something to that effect. I don't know whether this is truth,...

Thanks, Bob, and you're right -- one can avoid a lot of headaches if you just give the D a moment longer to match up. There's no reason to be in that big of a hurry.

I don't understand how the new NFHS rule is remotely close to the NCAA Men's rule, given that we are still playing when the ball hits the rim and the first spot for the D is still entirely...
