I was in the arena and caught that as well. They removed one of their 3 point shooters and put him back in.

My favorite story this year

I was working a JV & varsity boys assignment earlier this year. In the JV game, I was the C in transition when A1, who was dribbling, cut back to his left. His defender jumped back into his path,...

Foul by disqualified player

We had different positions on this after our chapter meeting tonight.

A1 has fouled out and has been disqualified with the coach notified. Later in the game, B1 has a breakaway and A1 jumps off...

Shooting Motion

A player makes a drive to the basket. He is in the middle of his jump stop and is airborne when he is fouled after he grabs the basketball with two hands, but before his two feet land on the ground...

Why dodge it?

I have tapped the ball back scores of times and thought nothing of it. It is almost always momentary confusion on the player's part or a lack of understanding of the rules by a younger player. Either...

The one thing that really helped me is that my first couple of years, I would find varsity games that had officials that I really respected assigned to it. I would call one of these officials in...

A couple other things that bothered me that haven't been mentioned.

C looked like he was way too antsy down the stretch of this game and he did not trust his partners. The ball watching on the...

Had a debate with other officials. We all agree that on an inbounds pass from A1, A2 is allowed to jump from the frontcourt, catch the ball, and land in the backcourt without having a backcourt...
