One example of no contact, no illegal screen
would be, in my view, the dreaded pick-in-the-back. I am a bear on this, players sneaking up behind (out of the visual field) others, but - if the defender never knows the guy/girl is their, and...

I see the reference, thanks.
I had forgotten that coming to rest and lodging were defined as equivalent. If I had thought of it as 'lodging', I would have had less trouble with the law, if not its underpinnings.
I've never...

Dude, this is not nothing. Do you know what law enforcement's experience is with the 'little stuff'. They used to think you could safely ignore it, concentrate on the big stuff. Turns out that the...

This is a case of The Right To Land
the validity of which I (in my best legal judgment) established as being inplied in the rules. What matters is when did the player on the floor get to the spot. A player in the air has the right to...

Which official made the call? Huh?
Inadvertent whistle, no team control, ball goes on the arrow. It's too late to kiss and make up with the other official. Assuming the whistle was blown expiditiously, it affected play.

My most creative call . . . ever.
B1 jumps like a jumping jack to deny the pass. A1 throws the ball after the defender has left the ground. B1's legs are on their way back to closed position, in order to land. Ball strikes leg below...

A pox! A most palpable pox!
I would agree with Chuck, the 'right to the spot you're in' is, practically speaking, the general rule, abrogated under special circumstances (guarding a dribbler, screening a moving player, etc.).

The try may end earlier, when it is certain that the try will be unsuccessful.

Not exactly
1. I think you'd find the defender wasn't late
2. 'The fact that the ball was away . . ' is precisely the point. Morons driving down the lane with no concern are a big concern, unless you want...
