Wanna know why the game has become a joke? Last night, Kentucky, Florida. At the end, Kentucky player drove in from the right, dished off, and wiped out the defender. This was no flop, the kid took the hit. No call. Why? Because the mighty 3-man crew couldn't stick with the dribbler the one extra count to see what happened?

Or am I wrong? This isn't a foul under NCAA rules . . . there are . . . are you running with me here? . . . "implied dots" . . .

I saw that play and if anything on that call it should have been a block. The Florida defender stepped in late and the Kentucky guard had already gotten rid of the ball. I've got to think that the fact that the ball was away and the defender stepped in late is why there was a no call.

That's just my 2 cents on it.

Nicely said, but the matter of staying with the dribbler long enough to see what happens is way up on the list that those who _really_ ref, that is, those who do the 2-man game, have to work on.

1. I think you'd find the defender wasn't late

2. 'The fact that the ball was away . . ' is precisely the point. Morons driving down the lane with no concern are a big concern, unless you want to play Footsketball.

What ever happened to "let the players decide the game?"

And yes, the officials know to "stick with the dribbler." Most NCAA camps and pregame meeting talk about this exact situation. One official has the pass, the other has the crash. Apparently, they chose not to make the call. I'll take a wild guess, but that's probably exactly why these three guys DID get scheduled to do the game. Basketball in the SEC and the Big XII is alot different than in the NEC or the SWAC. The games should be and are called differently.

Oh, and good luck moving up the ladder criticizing quality officials.
