5/23/09 Royals at St. Louis, Bot 4th.
Molina, the runner on 1st made it safely into 2ndbase. The batter went way over the plate on his swing, there was no contact, but PU didn't call interference....

B1 bunts the ball down the first base line. as he starts off for first, the ball bounces straight up and hits the batter.

when is a player out of the batters box, so he could be called out instead...

well, it's not an immediate dead ball in any case ! only if an IF has an "easy play" on the batted ball (J/R). what if the ball was hit into CF and F8 would have caught the ball after your time call...
