Not Taking Possession

4th down, Team A is flagged for holding which if declined, will result of Team A short of the line to gain.

Team B tells you that they wish to accept the penalty.

What do you do?

Remind them of their options (and I would talk to the coach):

"Coach, if you accept the penalty, it will be 4th and 22. If you decline, YOU GET THE BALL."

No need to expand that second option: keep it simple. If he still wants the penalty, fine with me.

While I'm nodding my head "yes", I am telling him that if he declines the penalty it's his ball.
