Depends on the mechanics as others have said, but it also depends on the play situation. Our mechanic in 6- and 7- is that the HL puts us into goal line. We use 10 and in for 6-man and 5 and in for 7-man, however for instance in 6-man, if it's 3rd and Goal from the B-7, the FJ/SJ are at the end line, but if it's 3rd and 2 at the B-7, then we might be in regular mechanics because there are two important lines, the GL and the LTG.

REPLY: I guess the issue is that regardless of where it is that the deep officials give up the goal line, why was it that one of them (SJ) was at the endline and the other (FJ) was still at the goal line? I've put the question out to my NFL resource. He told me once before about their goal line techniques, but I can't remember exactly how they do it.
