U1, U2 Positioning

Curious on your thoughts on these scenarios:

A. Watched a HS game in a different state, noticed in both the VG and VB game, U1 and U2 stood in the corner of the volleyball court or about 10 feet inside the basketball court around the 3 pt line during the jump ball.

----In our area its always been practice to actually be standing on the sideline not 10 feet from it on the jump ball. I think most of the mechanic picture-gram show sideline, but it made me pause for a minute.

B. Pre-Game - Standing Opposite Table, U2 is standing to the right of the R as they face the table. U1 is standing to the left. At half time, partner who is U2 says, "I am staying with my team." So now U2 is standing to the left of the R, U1 is now on the right.

First time I recall someone saying this and very uncommon for other partners to ever do this in the past. Is there a correct mechanic on this?

A. That's weird, never seen that. Definitely contrary to the mechanics manual.

B. That's standard here, you watch the 2nd half warmup of the team you watched pre-game and then take your starting position accordingly.

You can either stay on the same side and switch teams or you can switch sides and stay with the same team. Doesn't really matter much.

Or you can figure out how to be the one to go to the table, get the ball, use the Slipp Not, and be the center on the first possession....and go to that side.

Or, if you so desire, figure out how to be away from the coaches on the first possession, and go to that side.

Right.

I know I'm turning into a prima donna when I'm annoyed by the lack of a Slipp Not.

(I once had a partner that thought the S-N stood for South-North.)

I have done the same thing lately. I only think that because some of the floors I work on are like hockey rinks. I have found that the rugs that schools put under the team benches work okay for wiping your shoes off too.
