U1, U2 Positioning

Curious on your thoughts on these scenarios:

A. Watched a HS game in a different state, noticed in both the VG and VB game, U1 and U2 stood in the corner of the volleyball court or about 10 feet inside the basketball court around the 3 pt line during the jump ball.

----In our area its always been practice to actually be standing on the sideline not 10 feet from it on the jump ball. I think most of the mechanic picture-gram show sideline, but it made me pause for a minute.

B. Pre-Game - Standing Opposite Table, U2 is standing to the right of the R as they face the table. U1 is standing to the left. At half time, partner who is U2 says, "I am staying with my team." So now U2 is standing to the left of the R, U1 is now on the right.

First time I recall someone saying this and very uncommon for other partners to ever do this in the past. Is there a correct mechanic on this?
