I like Bill too, but it looks like he got that one wrong.

I wonder what he was thinking on this play. He was looking right at the defender the whole time.

Side note: if he pointed at the RA and a partner came with info that the defender was outside, the call would change right? RA is the only reason I can think why he called a block.

Whether the defender was in the RA or not ( he wasn't) I would not consider the defender a secondary defender in this play because of how far away from the basket the dribbler was when he got around the first defender.

I'm not sure how you can say this. It is a back door cut to get behind the primary defender. This pretty much looks like the definitition of a secondary defender.

And its a PC everyday and twice on Sunday.

The defender was clearly a secondary defender. Play happened outside the RA, so it doesn't matter.

This is a textbook example of a secondary defender as the defender is helping is just beat teammate who was the primary defender.

Hmmmm...if the dribbler got around the FIRST defender, wouldn't that make the next defender a secondary defender? If he got around the first defender in the back court, you could use this explanation, but not on this play.
