Maybe add something about not using your whistle to signal the end of a quarter or end of the game when there's not a shot attempt pending? That's one of those little things that I see a lot of officials do that draws unnecessary attention. The horn is sufficient.

Maybe in your area, not here. A whistle is expected here.

Thank you...

...for a fine document that offers up many of the things we need to think about as the third team on the floor.

Most of my partners are great about not chasing down loose balls during the game. I wish they would be as good about it once the game is over.

Hmmm, I always thought the horn was for us, and we took care of the subs.

What if they make a mistake? Two shot foul, subs at table, horn sounds and in they come, because they feel horn allows them to. I understand beckoning as horn sounds.

Not a good idea imo.
