Reporting a delay of game warning

A-1 inbounding after a basket on the end line. B-1 steps across end line into out-of-bounds territory. I whistle and stop play for DOG warning. What is the proper way of reporting this? GO directly to coach? Report to the table? What should the scorekeeper do to keep track? Second violation by same team is a Technical foul charged to who?

"Delay of game warning blue (and sometimes I'll say the number for the coach's sake)" to the table

A second delay of game warning is a team technical.

And the scorer should make note of the delay of game warning, the team that's been warned, and preferably the time that it occurred.

Thanks, easy enough. That helped a lot. Team technicals aren't counted toward any player or coach, it's just for awarding the ball and free throws to the other team, right?

Team technical fouls count towards the team total but are not charged to a player or coach.

Provincially, we were instructed to report the warning like a foul, and have the scorer write down the player's number, and the quarter and time of the warning. He can use the acronym "DOG" if he likes.

Report this from the reporting area.

Also, be careful about "reporting" numbers for anything except a foul, and a charged timeout. No numbers for delay of game warnings, three seconds, free throw violations, etc. Some half-interested, half-distracted, scorekeepers might mark it in the book as a personal, and team foul.

DOG warnings are also supposed to be reported to the head coach after it is reported to the table.

I go closer to the table than normal for DOG reporting (Normally I go just inside the reporting area). This lets me take care of the coach notification by looking at him/her and reminding them the next delay is a technical.

Usually my partners do a long-distance report to the table and I will relay the info to the HC.

I no longer remind them of the consequences of the next one, but other than that I do the same.

I also give numbers for those violations...cause inevitably, the coach is wondering who you called the violation on.

In my games here is what I write for a delay of game warning-

Example-A#22 is called for a delay of game warning for breaching the plane on an inbounds play @ 2:25 in the 3'rd quarter.

Over the team A side in the book-above the running score
DOG-Q3-2:25-Plane

For 3rd and 4th grade games in our local kids rec league, we call them "PUPPY" warnings.
